Discount Area Rug Store! The most popular area rug
styles that people are selecting for their homes today. You are
bound to find your ideal rug amongst these great choices.
Tabriz Rugs: Many styles flow from the prolific city of
Tabriz, the eminent Naqsheh with its many lavish designs, some
on bases of pure silk, the classic Mahi or 'fish' design, loved
by designers for its subtlety, and many hundreds of other
patterns.
Nain Rugs: With great refinement, Nain keeps its beiges
and assorted blues, every forked leaf, vine and flower outlined
in white silk. Infrequently, they stray to a field of rich red,
yellow, orange or green, and sometimes use a foundation of pure
silk.
Heriz Rugs: Heriz, heavy carpets from the strong Turks,
with thick, masculine designs. Woven large, Heriz are low in
KPSI but remarkably high in visual delight, with rich brick
reds, terra cottas, beiges, browns and blacks.
Gabbeh Rugs: Gabbeh, primitive tribal rugs made by nomads
in bright solid tones, bold stripes, geometric human or animal
shapes, perfect for the modern interior. The foundation of these
rustic gems is sometimes wool and goat hair.
Ardabil Rugs: Ardabil is a city near the coast of the
Caspian Sea, and is probably responsible for one of the oldest
and most famous carpets in existence today, the 34' x 17'
masterpiece housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Arak Rugs: Arak rugs are made in and around the city of
Arak, which is an important region in the carpet industry. These
rugs have generally one of three major patterns.
Kashmar Rugs: Kashmar conjures the glorious history of
Persia and of the province of Khorassan, with depictions of the
ruins of Persepolis, pillars of wisdom, dramatic landscapes,
lakes, swans and ancient vases.
Isfahan Rugs: The beautiful city of Isfahan produces
elegant pieces with flowing vines, sword flowers, and
magnificent borders. Frequently woven in silk and wool, many are
done on foundations of pure silk with wonderful fringes.
Turkoman Rugs: They are generally very soft and lush and
are very distinguishable from other Persian rugs. The patterns
are normally all-over geometric details, known as 'guls',
repeated in straight lines on the field. These guls vary from
one tribe to the other, and also appear in the Bokhara pattern
of Kasmir where they are often called the 'lucky elephant's
foot'.
Mashad Rugs: The elegant Mashad, capital city of the
province of Khorassan, produces fine, traditional designs in
classic colours, fields of Shah Abbas flowers and medallions of
superb proportions.
Kashan Rugs: Still called today 'the palace carpet' by
many, the distinguished Kashan was used to cover the walls of
elaborate palaces with their beautifully balanced designs of
well-proportioned flowers, palmettes and other traditional
details.
Bakhtiari Rugs: Bakhtiari brings vivid, tribal colors,
whether nomadic on wool foundations (often with two rows of
wefts), or the more village type of the Chahar-Mahal region.
Patterns of paneled garden design, animals, tree-of-life or huge
medallions, sit on fields of flowers.
